Brighten & Whiten Your Smile Naturally
Your teeth are one of the first things people notice about you, so, here are 5 ways to brighten & whiten your smile naturally, and, get you ready for those fun in the sun photos!!! Say, CHEESE! 🙂
5 Ways to Naturally Brighten and Whiten Teeth
Steps 1 – 3
1. Brush and Floss At Least Twice A Day
Brushing cleans the surface of your teeth. You need to floss in order to clean out the gaps between your teeth, where bacteria often reside. If you don’t floss, you’re more likely to have plaque build-up, which can lead to cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease.
2. Rinse Mouth with Water After Every Meal
Taking a few swigs of water and swishing it around in your mouth after meals can help to loosen particles that get stuck in between and on on surface of teeth. The less time that food particles remain on teeth can lessen the effects of tooth decay and yellowing.
3. Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide
This works great as a natural teeth whitener. Mix a small amount of hydrogen peroxide with a small amount of baking soda to make a paste. Brush your teeth as usual, making sure you brush those back teeth too. Hydrogen peroxide is an anti-bacterial agent and works great as a total mouth and gum cleaner and keeps the mouth free of germs.
Baking soda is a gritty substance like sandpaper so be careful that you have enough hydrogen peroxide mixed in with the soda because if you don’t it can scrub the enamel right off your teeth and enamel does not grow back. The paste should not be gritty, instead a runnier paste than a stiff paste.
Steps 4 – 5
4. Coconut Oil Rinse
Rinsing your mouth with coconut oil (called ‘oil pulling’) is a unique, old, remedy that people swear by to help whiten teeth. Lauric acid in coconut oil can rid your teeth of bacteria found in plaque that can make them yellow. It is also supposed to promote gum health, and help keep your breath fresh.
5. Eat Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables
Apples, celery, and carrots are all great for your teeth. Crunchy fruits and veggies act like nature’s toothbrush. Simply chewing them removes excess food and bacteria from your mouth. They also help to scrub away surface stains. Not only does the texture remove food particles and bacteria, but the acids in the fruits and vegetables pull double duty, actually keeping the teeth whiter. Apples in particular contain malic acid, the chemical also found in strawberries (and teeth whitening products) that removes surface stains.
- That’s all folks! With the 5 above methods on how to brighten & whiten your smile naturally, you are now 5 steps closer to whiter teeth and a brighter smile! 🙂 Say, CHEESE!!! 😉
