New Avon Reps – 3 C’s To Avoid

New Avon Reps – 3 C’s To Avoid.    Hello, New Avon Reps (and potential reps who may be reading this)!  My name is Stephanie Lackey and I am a Promoter and Independent Sales Representative with Avon.  After having my son, I decided to resign from my position as a healthcare admissions director to become a stay-at-home mom, for all the benefits that it brings (i.e., creating & experiencing unforgettable moments with my son, avoiding daycare costs).

When my son was 9 months old, I became an Avon Rep, and it has been one of the best decisions I ever made! Avon makes it very economical to operate my business (supplies from the Avon Representative site are very inexpensive and affordable), I can make my own hours (a very needed benefit when you have a child), and there is no requirement to carry products around or do home demonstrations to make sales.

The 3C’s That I Avoided To Help Achieve Avon Success

Ready for the good stuff?  New Avon Reps (I feel that established reps can benefit from this also), you want to avoid:

#1 “C” to Avoid

1. COMPLAINING…and others who complain – Complaining just creatives a negative atmosphere that needs to be avoided at all costs!  Use that energy to be CREATIVE instead.  When I started my Avon business, I didn’t have transportation to market and/or deliver orders, was new to my neighborhood and didn’t know my neighbors, didn’t have a strong network to build customer base, I was shy (BLAH BLAH BLAH)..  All good reasons to complain, right?  NO.  Instead of complaining, I got CREATIVE.  Nine days after signing up to sell Avon, I texted the proof for the business cards I’d ordered online, along with the link to my eStore to everyone in my phone, and, in one day, I had 30 names & emails to add to my  Avon Address Book.

I didn’t stop there.  I already had accounts on Facebook and Twitter.  I opened up accounts on 6 more sites, created a blog, and shared, shared, shared advertising posts to each site consistently.  Many times then and now, the feedback is little to none from my posting, but, do you see the achievements I listed above???  I didn’t complain, I CONTINUED – continued posting like I was receiving 1000 likes and comments, and, the orders began rolling in.  🙂

#2 “C” to Avoid

2.  COMPARING – No two people are the same.  What works for one Avon Rep may or may not work for another.  You may see stories of reps who have tossed 100 books in neighborhoods and gained customers and recruits, while you have tossed 1000 books and gained angry phone calls from neighbors who accuse you of littering. 🙂 Some new reps may be sprinting up the ladder to President’s Club,  because, maybe they have a knack for fundraising, while it seems that you are climbing slowly up the ladder to President’s Club.  It’s okay!  Whether you get there fast and furious, or, slow and steady, be CONSISTENT until you get there!

Do me a favor, will ya?  Do not get thoughts of quitting after seeing someone is successful at an idea that you failed at.  Don’t COMPARE their success to your failure, instead CELEBRATE their success with them, continue on until you find your niche, and, as the saying goes, “blow it out of the park!”

I haven’t been successful at gaining customers from tossing brochures in neighborhoods, getting an organization to do a fundraiser, or making big money at vendor events.  However, I don’t get discouraged.  Instead I focus on being determined to grow my Avon business with the tools that seem to work better for me.  That has been social media marketing and attaining online sales.

#3 “C” to Avoid

3.  CHEAPING OUT – “Cheaping out” is defined as “spending less than should be spent in order to save money”.  I do understand that when first starting out, all new Avon reps do not start out with the same amount of resources.  Perfectly understandable.  However, there is an old saying in business, “you have to spend money to make money”.  It does not have to be a LOT of money.  Cutting costs wherever possible in order to gain a profit is a GREAT practice for a business owner.  However, cutting costs too excessively can result in a loss of profit.  Keep in mind, you initially  invested $15 to become an Avon Rep, but, the investment does not stop there… i.e. Order more than 10 Avon brochures per campaign – the more brochures you put in the hands of people, the greater the possibility of gaining a customer.  🙂

New Avon Reps, I hope that you have enjoyed reading this, and, that I have in some way helped you to see things in a better perspective in order to further your Avon business!  Happy Selling and Much Success!  🙂
