How To Get Avon Customers while Grocery Shopping

Check out these tips on How To Get Avon Customers while Grocery Shopping! This blog was inspired by a recent shopping experience I had at the local grocery store.  I first shared this with my Avon Team in our Facebook group, and afterwards, thought, “Hmmm. Other Avon Reps and direct sales/beauty consultants may can benefit as well.”

Finding Potential Customers while Shopping

1. Brand Yourself with Conversation Starters

  • Wear an Avon name badge, Avon button, Avon fashion or fragrance.  If no one you come into contact with “bites the bait”, be a big girl/big boy (men sell Avon, too, ya know) and proceed to Step 2…

2.  Strike up a conversation with someone in the same aisle (shopper, stocker).  (i.e., “I’ve never tried this brand before. Have you?”)  This usually works for me, I almost always find a “Chatty Patty” who LOVES to talk.  😀

3.  Close the conversation – “It was sooo nice talking with you.  You’ve been so helpful; would you like some free beauty samples?”  (I’ve only gotten a “No, thank you” once.  Not bad compared to the number of people I’ve asked!)

4.  Introduce yourself as an Avon Rep and get contact info to follow up.  If they decline, it’s okay, just be sure to point out that you have included YOUR contact info on the samples if they would like to place an order.

 Finding Potential Customers At Checkout

1. Strike up a conversation with cashier while he/she is scanning your groceries (not about Avon or what company you sell for; maybe ask how their day is going)

2. When cashier hands you your receipt, thank them and say, “This is for you. I’m an Avon Rep (beauty consultant for_____ ) & here are some free samples”.  If someone is in line behind you, be courteous and don’t take up time trying to collect contact info. Smile and quickly point out that YOUR contact info is on the samples if they would like to order (my preference is a lipstick sample & a male fragrance sample)

3. When you are leaving, if the greeter isn’t busy with someone else, smile and greet them. (Have samples in hand, ready to give out).  Simply say, “Have a good day, I’m an Avon Rep (beauty consultant with ____ ) giving out free samples today” (Trust me, you will have them HOOKED with the word “FREE” 😁) If possible, get contact info to follow up!

4. Yes, it’s that simple. YOU’VE GOT THIS
